Netflix’s original documentary, Tiger King, was monumental for the streaming platform; however, there appears to be another series preparing to dethrone Netflix’s wildest story.
Netflix is projecting that the fourth season of the Spanish drama, Money Heist, will have a slightly greater global audience in its first four weeks.
Tiger King gained the attention of 64 million active accounts, but Money Heist, which debuted April 3, is estimating 65 million member accounts will be tuned in to the fourth installment.
Netflix did recently change what they constitute as views in their earnings report.
The new system would measure a view if a member account watched a minimum of two minutes of either a movie or series, basically, just “long enough to indicate the choice was intentional,” whereas 70% of a watched episode or feature film was previously considered as a view.
Netflix said that the new measurement would result in figures being 35% larger than their previous reporting metric.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Neither Money Heist nor the Tiger King will meet Netflix’s previous quarter numbers for The Witcher, which reported 76 million people tuning in to watch Henry Cavill’s fantasy series.
