Netflix’s “Selling Tampa” Series Canceled After One Season; Cast Members Believe It’s Due To Racial Discrimination “I Feel Like We Weren’t Given A Second Chance”

Netflix series ‘Selling Tampa’ will not renew for a new season and cast mates claim it’s due to racial discrimination.

Cast member Juawanna Colbert recently spoke with Page Six and revealed some opinions on why their show got cut.

“When they show us [black women] in a different light,” Colbert says. “When we’re bickering, fighting and name-calling, they get a Season 2 and Season 3. But that’s not what we were displaying. I feel like we weren’t given a second chance. Possibly because of what we represented as minority women.”

‘Selling Tampa’ premiered on Netflix in 2021 and followed an all-female release estate agency called Allure Realty. The agency was ran by head broker Sharelle Rosado and consisted of seven employees: Colony Reeves, Anne-Sophie Petit, Tennille Moore, Karla Giorgo, Rena Frazier, Alexis Williams and Juawanna Colbert.

Since the launch of the first season, the cast members had been receiving questions about a second season. However, the cast were getting the “runaround” about Netflix picking up another season.

Last week, the creator of the ‘selling’ franchise Adam DiVello, broke the unfortunate news to the cast during a Zoom call.

“Adam specifically said [the decision] was related to numbers but never gave any additional information. I don’t know if he was talking about rating numbers or budget numbers. He just said numbers,” Colbert added.

According to an insider, the cast did not receive much of an explanation as to why the show was canceled. Instead, each woman was told to tell fans “There aren’t any plans right now for more ‘Selling Tampa.”

“We know that [‘Selling Tampa’] was No. 1 in multiple countries, and it did fairly well,” the insider says. “Obviously, it’s not going to be a ‘Selling Sunset’ Season 5. … It’s just weird. All of a sudden this all-black cast doesn’t even get a chance for a Season 2.”
