The Atlanta Police Department has released new details surrounding the tragic death of rapper Rich Homie Quan. The incident report, obtained by 11Alive, reveals the circumstances leading up to the discovery of the rapper’s unresponsive body on September 5th at his home on Hamden Forest Drive SW in Atlanta.
According to the report, Lamar’s brother told police he woke up around 3 a.m. and found the rapper asleep on the floor near the kitchen with food in his mouth. Describing the scene as “very unusual,” his brother decided to move him from the floor and place him on the couch.
Hours later, the rapper’s girlfriend, who was also at the home, went downstairs around 6:45 a.m. to take several children to school. She found Rich Homie Quan asleep on the couch and, after returning home, went back to sleep herself. When she checked on him again at 11 a.m., she found his body cold and unresponsive. She immediately called 911.
The responding officer who arrived at the scene reported that there were no signs of foul play and that Rich Homie Quan was not “alert, conscious, or breathing” when checked.
While an autopsy was performed on September 6th, the cause of death has not yet been determined, pending further test results.
