New Docuseries “More Than An Athlete” Tells The Story Of LeBron James And His Childhood Best Friends: “I Am So Grateful And Blessed That We Found Each Other”

The story of LeBron James and his childhood friends is coming to screens in a new docu-series titled “More Than An Athlete.”

Everyone has that group of solid friends who will always be there by your side. For James, those men are #MaverickCarter, #RandyMims, and #RichPaul. While the world may know them by the names their mothers’ gave them, for more than 20 years, they’ve referred to themselves as the “Four Horsemen.”

“It was consistently us four….But it got to a point where it was consistently us four, for whatever reason. Then at any given time of the day, you’re going to see two of the four, three of the four or four of the four doing something, whether it was going to the mall, getting something to eat, traveling, at games. …We were just all in LeBron’s apartment during the holidays. Mav’s dad had bought us these hats and had us put these hats on. And we took a picture, and he was like, ‘The Four Horsemen.’ It just kind of came from there. We just ran with it,” said Paul.

Today, the four are still very close and making power moves in their careers. Carter is the CEO of SpringHill Entertainment and its digital media platform, UNINTERRUPTED. Mims is James’ chief of staff and travels with the Los Angeles Lakers. Paul, who previously sold pro sports jerseys when he met a then-teenage James in Akron-Canton Airport, is now a well-known NBA agent who represents James as well as #AnthonyDavis, #JohnWall, #BenSimmons, #EricBledsoe, #JRSmith, #TristanThompson and more.

The episode of “More Than An Athlete” will premiere Tuesday (Nov. 20) exclusively on the premium direct-to-consumer sports service. “Watching my three brothers grow into serious businessmen with purpose fills me with so much pride,” James said in a statement to ESPN’s The Undefeated. “I watched as corporate America tried to look past or dismiss them. I always knew there was something special about Randy, Rich and Maverick and that, together, we were going to do something very different. I am so grateful and blessed that we found each other.”
