New Jersey Teacher Arrested For Having Sex With A Student

A substitute teacher in New Jersey is being charged for having sex with a 14-year-old student after she was caught by her own children. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

According to a criminal complaint, the woman’s kids had a heated confrontation with her about the long-running relationship with the underaged student.

Elyse Castillo, 45, allegedly had sex with the minor various times over a 15-month period, during that period she also never disclosed her diagnoses of venereal disease, according to the NYPost.

Her own 13 and 14-year-old children confronted her last month because they were disgusted by “her relationship with a minor.”

The incident was so bad that the children’s father called child protection services, claiming Castillo had abused them during the altercation, which then sparked a police investigation into the sex claims, the report said.

The alleged victim was then interviewed by investigators where he said he met Castillo when he was in sixth grade just last year, and that they were in a relationship and “would make love,” as stated in the complaint.⠀⠀

The teen said they performed numerous sex acts on “multiple occasions” at Castillo’s home, from June 2018 up until last month.

Castillo was arrested without incident August 29 and was met with a slew of charges, including aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

She also was charged with having sex while she had a venereal disease, which has been determined as herpes, without the informed consent of the alleged victim, the charge documents said.

Castillo attempted to hide her face when she appeared for a detention hearing Thursday. The court was told that Castillo had pleaded guilty and now faces 10 to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors had wanted her detained, but Judge Paul DePascale ordered her released, prohibiting her from having contact with any minors apart from her own children.
