Picture this: You’re on your way out to meet up with some friends in the city. You’ve got your wallet, your keys, your shoes and your shades for the drive. You know you’re forgetting something but you head out anyway. You’re driving for miles until you come up on a toll and a light bulb goes off….You forgot to grab cash for the toll. Now, what do you do? Do you keep it safe and drive up to the cashier to receive a pay later receipt? Or do you risk it all and drive straight through without paying?
According to ABC News, a New Jersey woman has been arrested for the latter; something she’s done over 500 times, authorities say.
Police tried to stop Denise Simien, 55, by the Holland Tunnel after realizing she owed more than $16,000 in unpaid tolls and fees. However, Simien didn’t stop and drove through the toll again without paying. Police stopped her on the other side of the toll plaza. She was charged with theft of services and obstruction of justice.
Apparently, Simien is one of several who have recently been charged with evading the Holland Tunnel’s $15 toll, ABC News reports.
