Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing additional legal challenges as five new lawsuits have been filed against him. The Buzbee Law Firm, which previously announced plans to file over 100 lawsuits involving Combs, filed five new cases in the Southern District of New York on Sunday, along with two additional suits in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
One of the lawsuits, filed by a Jane Doe, alleges that Combs was involved in the drugging and assault of a 13-year-old girl after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The plaintiff claims she was unable to attend the awards show and approached limo drivers after the event, hoping to attend an afterparty. A driver, allegedly connected to Combs, took her to a party where she signed a non-disclosure agreement and was offered a drink.
After consuming the drink, the plaintiff says she began to feel lightheaded and went to lie down in a bedroom. She alleges that Combs later entered the room with a male and female celebrity, and the male celebrity assaulted her while the female watched. The lawsuit further claims that Combs then assaulted her while both celebrities were present. According to the filing, the plaintiff now lives in Alabama and continues to struggle with the effects of the incident on her mental health.
Diddy’s legal team has firmly denied the allegations, maintaining that Combs has never been involved in any form of sexual misconduct. When approached by Variety, his attorneys stood by their previous statement, which emphasized confidence in the legal process. “Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone — adult or minor, man or woman,” the statement said.
Combs’ legal team also filed a motion requesting that the court limit public statements from potential witnesses and their lawyers, arguing that such comments could affect Combs’ right to a fair trial.
Currently, Combs is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn following his arrest on Sept. 16 on charges related to racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges but has been denied bail twice. His trial is scheduled for May 2024, and if convicted, Combs could face significant prison time.
