New York City Mayor Eric Adams was joined by Brooklyn officials to unveil a new mosaic mural of Brooklyn rapper Notorious B.I.G.
City leaders gathered on March 9, marking the 26th anniversary of the rapper’s death, to commemorate the icon. The mural is located on Christopher Wallace Way, the street named for the rapper.
“We are larger than our surroundings,” Adams said at the event, according to PIX11 News. “The possibilities are endless if we go within and use the creativity for our life experiences, how do we tell our stories, and how do we make sure we leave from our block of Brooklyn and become a global phenomenon.”
We lost the Notorious B.I.G 26 years ago today. He was so young and yet he already gave us so much.
This powerful mural will forever pay tribute to Christopher Wallace, a homegrown Brooklyn legend.

Brooklyn-based artist Jan Carlos Pinto created the mosaic of the “Juicy” rapper made from shards of glass. He is depicted wearing a crown and his famous Coogi sweater, with a mirror where his face would be. This feature allows fans to envision themselves as the “King of New York.”
The city has celebrated Biggie’s legacy many times over the years. His birthday was declared a holiday by then-Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams in 2016. In 2019, the rapper’s childhood street St. James Place was renamed Christopher Wallace Way.
Murals honoring the late rapper have appeared throughout the area frequently over the years.
