New Music Friday is filled with nostalgic vibes, and we have Metro Boom and Juicy J to thank.
The super producer returned with his highly anticipated album, “A Futuristic Summa.” He tapped Atlanta icons including Young Dro, Gucci Mane, T.I., Lil Baby, Quavo, Roscoe Dash, Rocko, Waka Flocka, Yung LA, and more. Across 24 tracks, Metro merges today’s tunes with those of the early 2000s, ushering in a new wave of club anthems and introducing a younger audience to the Southern voices that helped craft the ATL sound.
Juicy J is continuing his 30-year run with a new album, “Head On Swivel.” The Three 6 Mafia frontman delivers 20 new tracks, with a feature list including his brother, Project Pat, Denzel Curry, Wiz Khalifa, OJ Da Juiceman, and JP On The Track. Juicy stays true to his classic Memphis flow, something his day-one fans will appreciate.
Next up is Saweetie, who dropped off her long-awaited EP, “Hella Pressure.” Though only five songs, the California rapper is once again fueling interest in her debut album, which has yet to be unveiled despite years in the industry. The short project begins with “Pressure” and concludes with “I Need Some Inspo.” Additionally, “Hella Pressure” incorporates the previously released single, “Boffum.” Whether Saweetie is ready to unveil a full body of work anytime soon remains to be seen. For now, supporters of her fun bops are getting their fix before summer ends.
