In the ever-changing landscape of rap, a new wave of producers is redefining the genre with innovative beats and groundbreaking collaborations.

From Turbo’s smooth melodies to Tay Keith’s hard-hitting anthems, these producers are making their mark on the sound of current hip-hop.  Although not every veteran music maker embraces their contributions, their influence is undeniable. As these heavy hitters continue to craft the beats behind some of the most iconic songs in recent years, here are six of our favorite beatmakers who have taken hold of the last decade of rap.

Metro Boomin

Although he’s now a seasoned veteran, Metro Boomin started young and remains influential in curating the modern trap sound.  A favorite among artists, his production credits include “Bad and Boujee” by Migos and many collaborations with artists like 21 Savage, The Weeknd, and Travis Scott.

Tay Keith

Known for hits such as “Sicko Mode” by Travis Scott and “Look Alive” by BlocBoy JB, Tay Keith has quickly risen to prominence with his signature Memphis-inspired sound. He’s worked with major artists like Drake, Lil Baby, and Future.

Murda Beatz

Canadian-born Murda Beatz has produced for artists like Migos on hits such as “Motorsport.” He also has credits with Drake and Cardi B, showcasing his versatility across various hip-hop subgenres.

Turbo

Known for his work with artists like Gunna and Lil Baby, Turbo has been instrumental in crafting the signature trap sound with smooth, melodic beats. Some of his notable productions include tracks like “Drip Too Hard” and “Sold Out Dates.”

Wheezy

Wheezy is another key figure, collaborating with Future, Young Thug, and Lil Baby. His beats often feature atmospheric, spacey vibes with heavy 808s, heard in tracks like “Yes Indeed” and “Hot.”

Southside
A renowned figure in Atlanta’s rap scene, Southside is known for his hard-hitting beats and distinctive production style. He has collaborated with artists like Future and 2 Chainz, with notable credits for songs including “I’m Dat N***a” and “Crack.”
