A new Sex and the City series is heading to HBO Max, ET confirmed. The exciting news comes after actress Sarah Jessica Parker teased her fans on Instagram with a Sex and the City reboot.
“I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now? X, SJ,” Parker captioned along with a video of New York City and someone typing “And just like that,” and “The story continues…”
After co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis shared the same teaser on social media, the entertainment outlet confirmed that the trio would be starring in And Just Like That, a new Sex and the City series. They will also serve as executive producers with Michael Patrick King.
However, the new series will be without one of the original stars, Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha. After receiving backlash about her role, the actress vowed “never” to reprise it in any future projects.
According to HBO Max, the new series will follow Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte as “they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”
“I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor, and the beloved city that has always defined them,” said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max.
The show will consist of 10 half-hour episodes. Filming will begin in New York in late spring.
