In almost two years since Prince’s passing, a new toxicology report has revealed “exceedingly high” levels of fentanyl in his system at the time of his death. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is said to be 50 times more powerful than heroin.
Prince was found dead inside his Paisley Park estate back in 2016. Roughly six weeks later, news surfaced of the drug being in his system. Now, two years later, experts have revealed the extent of Prince’s overdose.
According to the secret report, which was obtained by the Associated Press, Prince had 67.8 micrograms per liter of fentanyl in his bloodstream, which is high even for a chronic pain patient. The report reveals that people have died from anywhere between three to 58 micrograms per liter.

In addition to the excessive amounts of fentanyl in his blood stream, the toxicology report reveals Prince’s liver had a concentration of almost 7 times the levels found in fatal toxicity cases. He also reportedly had lethal amounts of the drug in his stomach, which suggests he took it by mouth.
