New footage shows the two brothers, who were allegedly paid off by #JussieSmollett, buying a red hat and ski masks from a store the day before the assault.
Smollett claims two men, wearing ski masks and a red MAGA hat, brutally beat him in a racist and homophobic attack on Jan. 29. In a new video that has been obtained by CBS, the two Nigerian brothers, Ola and Abel Osundairo, can be seen placing the masks and a hat on the counter in a convenience store in Streeterville.
The two men were arrested last week but then released without charges. So far the brothers maintain Smollett paid them $3,500 to pour a chemical on him and place a rope around his neck while yelling racist and homophobic slurs. Two sources say they used a ride-share vehicle to get to Streeterville, and were seen on camera looking nervous. Sources also say Smollett paid for the rope the brothers used, which was purchased at the Crafty Beaver Hardware Store in the Ravenswood neighborhood the weekend of Jan. 25.
The brothers told police Smollett wanted the attack to happen before Jan. 29, and that they’d been rehearsing the attack days before. Since then, Smollett has been indicted for filing a false report, he is now facing 3 years.
