New York Giants defensive tackle Jay Bromley, 23, is under investigation by New York police after a woman says that he attempted to rape her, then struck her with his car while fleeing.
New York Daily News reports and that Bromley and the alleged victim met on Instagram. According to reports, Bromley picked the 26 year old woman up at her home early Saturday and got a room at the Hyatt Herald Square Hotel. In the room, the woman performed oral sex on Bromley, but when she refused to go any further, she says it was then that Bromley tried to rape her.
The victim reportedly demanded Bromley take her home. He instead refused and attempted to flee. The woman then jumped on top of the hood of his car to stop him from leaving but he kept rolling down the street. She fell off the hood, injuring her knees and legs. Other reports say Bromley hit the woman with his car in an attempt to leave the scene.
Currently the investigation is preliminary and no charges have been filed. The woman called police and was taken to Bellevue where a rape kit was administered.
The New York Giants have released a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation and will continue to monitor it. We have notified the league office per the league’s protocol. We will have no further comment as we understand this is an ongoing investigation.”
