A 24-year-old man from Pomonok was charged with attempted kidnapping, reckless endangerment, and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
The suspect was identified as James McGonagle. Police say he has been charged with attempted kidnapping, reckless endangerment, and acting in a manner injurious to a child connected with the horrifying incident in Richmond Hill on Thursday evening.
Authorities say McGonagle didn’t act alone. A man who appears to be an older bald man was photographed wearing jeans, an orange polo shirt, and sunglasses. However, he remains at large.
The disturbing incident was filmed by security cameras and showed a maroon sedan pulling up alongside a mother strolling with her three children on a sidewalk.
McGonagle is seen jumping out of the car and grabs the little boy before shoving him in the back seat of the car near Myrtle and Hillside avenues around 8:45 p.m.
But the mother was able to pull her son from the car.
