Earlier this morning an emotionally unstable man was arrested for setting fire to a Christmas tree outside the News Corporation headquarters in Midtown.
The tree in Fox Square outside the Sixth Avenue building that houses Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post was set ablaze shortly after midnight, and the flames quickly spread up the tree.
Craig Tamanaha, 49, the suspected fire-starter, is being charged with arson, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and criminal trespass.
According to police, Tamanaha is an emotionally disturbed person from Brooklyn who frequently visits the area.
Tamanaha is responsible for destroying nearly $500,000 in property damage.
Photos from the scene show that the fire scorched most of the Christmas tree in addition to the three others.
