A Long Island parent was outraged that their child and five other middle school students were pulled from their class for not wearing masks, so much so, they called the authorities.
The Suffolk County Police stated that an Islip Middle School security guard moved the six students into the school’s gym on Thursday after failing to comply with the mask rule.
A spokesperson from the department told the New York Post that a report was taken, but the situation was “not really a police issue.”
Islip Superintendent Dennis O’Hara has said that students who refuse to wear a mask will face the consequences. “As discussed with our community previously, any district student who does not adhere to the mask mandate will be brought to an alternative location where students are advised to either put on a mask or wait for their parent/guardian to pick them up,” O’Hara told ABC7.
The New York State Department of Health announced last week that both private and public school students and its faculty members would be required to wear masks while indoors.
