Johnstown Police arrested an upstate New York woman after discovering her roommate’s corpse in a bedroom.
Stephanie Hillburn, 43, was arrested on August 11 and charged with concealment of a human corpse, a felony.
Officers were called for a welfare check on 62-year-old Patricia Barter back in February. Police spoke with her two roommates, Hillburn and Deborah Eglin, who appeared nervous.
That’s when the body was discovered in the bedroom. It’s believed that Barter had been dead for some time after suffering a drug overdose. Authorities believe the roommates moved the body into the bedroom so they could continue partying at the house.
Eglin is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges, but Hillburn evaded capture until last week. She was located by Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies on an active arrest warrant.
Eglin is expected to also face charges in the case.
