New York subway riders have taken sexual harassment to the next level, as some men have reportedly been taking part in a new disturbing sexting trend – Airdropping penis pics.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The trend, which was first reported in London in 2015, was recently discovered in New York when man sent an unsolicited explicit picture of himself to another passenger on the train via the iPhone AirDrop function.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On July 27, 28-year old Britta Carlson was riding the 6 train to a concert when she received an AirDrop notification on her phone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“iPhone I would like to share a note with you,” it read, as she hit “Accept.” Unbeknownst to her, the pic was” just a huge close-up picture of a disgusting penis,” Carlson told The New York Post. The message was titled “Straw” and was sent by a stranger.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“It really felt like someone had actually just flashed me,” she said. “It never even crossed my mind that someone may use it to send stuff like that,” Carlson added of the function, revealing that she kept her settings switched on “Everyone” rather than “Contacts Only” or “Receiving Off.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Another victim named Frankie Navisch had a similar experience with a perverted AirDropper. Just as he was getting off a train, an AirDrop invitation named “Eduardo’s picture” popped up with a preview of a penis on the screen.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I wanted to punch him in the mouth for carelessly buckshotting genitalia to phones that could potentially be owned by children,” he said.”Was he looking for interaction, or is all he wanted was someone to look at his mini-monstrosity?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Apple has yet to comment on the matter.
