NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor found himself behind bars again this week. TMZ Sports reports that he was arrested in Florida for allegedly failing to comply with conditions required of him as a registered sex offender.
Broward County jail officials confirmed that Taylor turned himself in on Wednesday around 5 PM due to an outstanding felony warrant. He was booked on a charge of failure to report a change in his name or residence. Taylor spent several hours in jail before being released at approximately 3 AM on Thursday.
“My client, Lawrence Taylor, will be pleading ‘Not Guilty’ to the recent charges,” Eiglarsh stated. “As with the previous incident involving the same allegations, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal offense. This situation is a significant misunderstanding. We are confident that, once the prosecutors review the exculpatory evidence demonstrating Mr. Taylor’s innocence, he will once again achieve a favorable outcome.”
Taylor, widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history, was registered as a sex offender in 2011 following accusations involving a 16-year-old girl. His status requires him to adhere to specific conditions, including reporting any changes in residence or name to law enforcement.
