After Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson plead no contest to misdemeanor reckless assault on Tuesday, the NFLPA (NFL Players Association) is pushing for him to get back on the field.
According to ESPN the NFLPA sent a letter to the league on Friday requesting the immediate reinstatement of Peterson. Peterson has been on the commissioner’s exempt list since September and if the NFL declines to reinstate him, the NFLPA plans to file an expedited non-injury grievance. According to the agreement to put Peterson on the commissioner’s exempt list,it was listed that Peterson would be removed from the list upon resolution of his legal matter. That happened on Tuesday when Peterson reached his plea deal. The union argues that Peterson should be eligible to play immediately until the league is finished with its review under the personal conduct policy and determines whether there is any disciplinary action.
I speculate that Peterson will be getting an answer of sorts as we head into a new week.
What are your thoughts? Should he be reinstated?
