Nick Cannon is getting real about how being a dad, especially to five daughters, has transformed his outlook on love and accountability.

While promoting his upcoming late-night show, Cannon opened up to Extra’s Mona Kosar Abdi about how his past choices in relationships have shaped his present-day mindset.
“When you have five daughters and you’re like, ‘All right, I at least want to be able to be true and honest,’” Cannon said. “But I can’t live the same life that I’ve always been living and attempt to right my wrongs in that sense of where like hopefully my daughters learn from my mistakes and not date people like their dad.”
Cannon is the father of 12 children with six women, including pop icon Mariah Carey, with whom he shares twins Moroccan and Monroe. He also has children with Brittany Bell, Abby De La Rosa, Bre Tiesi, LaNisha Cole, and Alyssa Scott. His youngest, Halo Marie, was born after Cannon and Scott lost their son Zen to brain cancer in 2021.
Earlier this year, Cannon told PEOPLE he’s pressing pause on expanding his already large family.
“I love children. I love my life […] I never imagined that I would have 12 kids. So, it’s one of those things where if it could keep going in the direction that it’s going, why not?”
