On his talk show, Cannon discussed with Angela Yee of the Breakfast Club how he came to the decision to abstain from sex after finding Tiesi was pregnant with his eighth child.
“My therapist was one of the people who said I should probably be celibate, and the reason why is because I had shared that news about Bre being pregnant,” Cannon said. “That was the reason why I started my celibacy journey back then. So for anyone who’s thinking, ‘Oh he wasn’t celibate,’ I was!”
He added, “I felt like I was out of control and honestly, celibacy did help me through the journey of getting one with myself and being able to deal with this.”
During a September interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cannon revealed that his therapist recommended he give up sex.
“My therapist says I should be celibate,” Cannon said at the time. “You agree with the therapist? I’mma take a break from having kids.”
When asked how many babies “is enough,” he replied, “This is the thing…you can’t be like, ‘No, I’m done.’ Like, what if God says, ‘No, you not’? I was always like, ‘Yo, I want a big family,’ too. So, you know, the lord has blessed me with what I asked.”
