Nick Cannon dropped a new single from his upcoming mixtape on Monday, and it’s a touching tribute to his ex-wife, Mariah Carey. Cannon sings about his ex over a sample of her 1990 song “Love Takes Time.”
The song comes on the heels of the Wild ‘N Out hosts gender reveal with Bre Tiesi. The two are expecting a boy. The baby will be number eight for Cannon.
“As much as I want you back, it’s probably better where you at/Probably better where you at ’cause I’m still running the streets/I’m still all in the sheets, having babies,” Cannon sings. “Models and singers and actresses all sayin’ they’re pregnant by me/Have to pay $10,000 a week, I take care of my peeps/Now you don’t worry about when I creep, you got a man next to you when you sleep.”
Cannon and Carey were married from 2008 to 2016 when their divorce was finalized. They share twins Moroccan and Monroe.
“Alone” is the first single off Cannon’s forthcoming R&B mixtape, Raw N B The Explicit Tape. The tape is scheduled to drop this Friday. “This is the gospel of my broken soul,” he said in a statement. “This is as raw as it gets.”
