Singer Melissa Schuman is suing Nick Carter after she attempted to press charges against him for sexual assault 5 years ago.
The Backstreet Boys singer is being sued by Schuman for allegedly sexually abusing her in 2002 when she was 18 and he was 22.
The lawsuit states that he forced her to perform oral sex on him and to receive oral sex in return.
Despite her assurances to Carter that she was saving herself for marriage, Schuman, a former member of the girl group Dream, claims Carter later took her virginity.
Initially, in 2017, Schuman filed a police report so that Carter could face criminal charges, but the D.A.’s office declined to prosecute.
According to TMZ, Schuman wants to go before a judge to present her cases since there are new measures for revising the statute of limitations for civil claims.
However, Nick’s attorney, Liane K. Wakayama, said, “Melissa Schuman has been peddling this tale for many years, but her allegation was false when she first made it back in 2017 – and it still is. A judge in Nevada recently ruled, after reviewing the extensive evidence we laid out, that there are strong grounds for Nick Carter to proceed with his lawsuit against Ms. Schuman for plotting to damage, defame and extort Nick, his associates, his friends, and his family.”
TMZ previously reported that Nick had refuted all of her claims. Earlier this year, he filed a lawsuit against Schuman for $2.3 million, alleging that she had been attempting to extort money from him forced years.
