Over the past few years, the public perception of Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has shifted due to his personal beliefs and opinions. One such topic that has caused controversy is his stance on vaccines, which has sparked debate among fans and commentators alike.
However, after the all-pro quarterback tore his Achilles on the third play of the season in the opening game of the year, Rodgers hinted at the fact that at 40 years old, he would be able to return from this injury in just four months, which is much faster than the typical recovery time of nine months for even the healthiest players.
The media spotted Rodgers throwing a football after his surgery, but he did not move much. He later joined the Jets roster towards the end of November and had a 21-day period to practice with his teammates. However, once that period was over, he had to accept the inevitable. On December 19, Rodgers announced that he would be on Injured Reserve for the rest of the year. During an appearance on his friend Pat McAfee’s show, Rodgers revealed that it was the Jets’ decision to put him on the active roster and he had no influence on that.
Aaron believes that people have been harping on him for the last few months because of his vaccination stance.
However, he’s not the only player who is unvaccinated. Additionally, he didn’t have any control over being back on an active roster for three weeks, which allowed the public perception and media attention to further fuel the conspiracy that he could come back.
FS1’s Nick Wright spoke about how nauseating this conversation was around a 40-year-old injured QB who had no chance of coming back this year.
“Aaron thinks that he’s the relative on Thanksgiving that nobody wants to get caught in the corner with, because this guy tells you the ‘hard truths,’ when in reality you told me to read 48 laws of power and about the Illuminati, every Thanksgiving for a decade and I’m tired of it,” Wright said to began his soliloquy.
Mentioning that quarterback Kirk Cousins never got vaccinated as well, nipping Rodger’s newest conspiracy as to why people are annoyed with his latest takes during his most recent injury.
“The commentary is not about your vaccination status. It’s about you being the most disingenuous athlete of my lifetime. You are disingenuous about the vaccine, that was annoying. Not the status, the way you did it. You were disingenuous about your retirement status, 90% retired. You were then disingenuous whether or not you wanted Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, and Tim Boyle on your team. You’re now disingenuous about your own comeback, which you were disingenuous about the entire time. So this isn’t about anybody’s private medical decisions. It’s about the biggest look at me Louie.”
