Nicki Minaj has found herself in legal trouble while on tour overseas. The situation unfolded on Saturday morning when Minaj took to Instagram to call out law enforcement officers who subjected her to a luggage search after allegedly finding suspicious items in her purse. According to the video, Minaj was confronted outside the airport by agents who said they needed to check her bag for a second time.
“Police officers told me we have to offload all the luggage and search everything in your luggage,” a man said to the rapper. “I am so sorry to do this. They did a random quick check, but now they want to open these things.” He explained that the original check was cut short because Minaj was filming him.
Despite the man’s statement, Minaj claimed that someone was trying to sabotage her tour.
“They’ve been trying to stop me from coming to every show. They took my bags before I could see them, put them on the plane, and now they’re saying they’re waiting on customs. This is what it looks like when people are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else failed. Everything they’ve done is illegal,” she wrote in the caption.
Additionally, Minaj voiced her frustrations on X (formerly known as Twitter), revealing that marijuana was found in one of her bags but arguing that she shouldn’t be penalized since the drug is legal in Amsterdam.
“This is Amsterdam, by the way, where weed is legal,” Minaj wrote, adding, “They’re being paid big money to try to sabotage my tour because so many people are mad that it’s this successful & they can’t eat off me. They got caught stealing money from my travels/jets. Got fired. Got mad. Etc.”
Moments later, while on Instagram Live, the conversation between Minaj and the customs agents escalated, leading to Minaj being detained. In the video, the rapper questions why she’s being arrested, but the agent fails to provide a reason. One agent then explains the process to her, prompting Minaj to retreat and comply with the agents.
