Nicki Minaj may face criminal charges following a recent lawsuit filed by her former manager, Brandon Garrett.
TMZ has reported that Detroit Police have sent a warrant request to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, where it is currently under review to determine if criminal charges will be filed.
The incident at the center of the case allegedly occurred in April 2024 in Detroit. According to the lawsuit, Garrett was summoned to Minaj’s dressing room after a performance, where she reportedly flew into a rage upon learning that Garrett had sent someone else to pick up one of her prescriptions. Garrett claims Minaj angrily told him his “life was over” before physically striking him in the face with an open palm and slapping his wrist, causing documents to fall from his hands. At one point, Minaj allegedly told Garrett that her husband, Kenneth Petty, would assault him if he were present.
Garrett is suing Minaj for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, seeking damages for the alleged actions. When reports of the suit first surfaced, Minaj’s attorney called the claim “frivolous.”
However, the prosecutor will ultimately decide whether to move forward with the charges.
