While attending Billboard’s 2019 Women in Music event, Nicki Minaj, who won the Game Changer award, shared some advice that might be helpful to women all over.
”I find that when there’s a lot of chaos or when I’m confused about who I am or feeling low.. Taking time away to not be around other people or just get yourself focused, I think that’s always great,” Minaj told Billboard.
During the interview, the rapper explained that spending time alone can allow artists to reflect, which can help in everything they do.
“Your peace is the most important thing, and knowing you’re beautiful and knowing you’re great is extremely important,” Minaj shared. “You shouldn’t need anyone to tell you that; you should just know it and feel it every single day. You are that bi—.”
Minaj also discussed what the industry looks like to her today and the positive changes she’s seen but hopes for the industry to be more focused on the music.
“I would love for rappers to be so passionate about rap that we feel it,” the rapper said. “Everyone that has just come into the game, I’m so proud of you guys, ‘cause it’s not easy, and I know that. So keep doing your thing.”
