The queen of hip-hop herself, Nicki Minaj, had her Queen Radio show on Amp this past Friday, March 3rd. For those of you who don’t know, Amp is a live and interactive radio app from Amazon. And let me tell you, Nicki dropped some major bombs during the show.
The biggest news? Nicki is starting her own record label, y’all! She announced that Paddy Dukes will be her A&R and that more deets will be shared on the next Queen Radio. She also talked about her brand new single “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” and even had artist and songwriter Tate Kobang on the show to reveal that he wrote the hook. Not only that, but Nicki also plans to work with artist Nana Fofie on her label.
Missed the show? No worries, you can still catch a replay of it on the Amp app for iOS. And if you’re wondering what Nicki had to say, check out these key quotes from the night:
“I have a record label now. And because I believe so strongly in loyalty, and because I’ve spent my whole life giving to others that turn around and sh*t on me…Paddy Duke is the first A&R on my label.” – Nicki on her new record label
“Y’all know how I do shit for people. That’s not even signed to me. Imagine what I’m going to do to the ones that signed.” – Nicki on supporting artists
“Don’t think my label is just rap, or black, or anything. We got some other genres of music.” – Nicki on the diversity of her label
“Tate is one of the very best hook writers of the new generation. He wrote that hook.” – Nicki on working with Tate Kobang
“One of the most beautiful singing voice. One of those effortless, warm voices.” – Nicki on Nana Fofie
So, there you have it, folks. Nicki is taking over the game once again with her new label and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us. Keep an eye out for more news on the label and be sure to check out “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” ASAP.
