Nicki Minaj says her marriage with Kenneth Petty is “refreshing and calming.”
The Barb and her Ken have been in heaven since the two came together in holy matrimony last October, according to Minaj, who opened up about her life during an appearance on Young Money Radio with Lil Wayne.
“Good, good, good” is how Nick said things are going after Weezy inquired about her married life. “I didn’t think it would be as refreshing and calming as it is. Even if you’re not married, when you have someone that feels like your soulmate or someone who understands you, it just makes you feel like you’re on top of the world,” said the 37-year-old Queens rapper.
While Petty and Nicki made it official as a couple back in 2018, the two have known one another “since they were kids,” explained Nicki. Nicki has made several references about knowing Petty during her upbringing, like on her verse for Chance The Rapper’s “Zanies and Fools.” “I met my husband when I was 17 out in Queens/ If you love it, let it go, now I know what that means,” Nicki raps.
PEOPLE reports musician Derrick Milano also commented back in 2019 on the unique love between Petty and Nicki. “He understands her as a person,” “I think that’s what the connection really is with them — it’s that he really knows her. It’s a different type of connection. He’s not famous; he doesn’t want to be on Instagram. Like, that’s not his M.O. (modus operandi). He’s really focused on her.”
First comes love, then comes marriage, and now fans think the Queen might be expecting a child. The rapper went on about pregnancy-like symptoms she was having, including nausea, food craving, and “peeing nonstop.” Recently Nicki addressed a fan who questioned her about the cravings. “Are you also throwing up in the morning and having to go to the bathroom a lot?” asked a Twitter user during Nicki’s Q&A session in May to promote her feature on # DojaCat’s “Say So” remix. “Lmao. No throwing up. But nausea and peeing nonstop. Omg, what do u think this means guys???? Lmaooooooooooo,” responded Nicki.
Elsewhere in the interview, Minaj chopped it up with her mentor about a possible joint album, as the two also discussed their work ethic and what it takes to be the best.
