Nicki Minaj recently showed major love to Eve after hearing about her comments during an interview on CNN.
Eve was promoting her new book, “Whose That Girl,” when she opened up about working with Nicki during Barbershop 3 back in 2016.
She even revealed that she went to therapy before filming, expecting there might be some drama between her and Nicki.
“We got along well and shot our scenes together with no problems. It was nothing like what I had expected, but again, I am thankful that I prepared myself for it,” Eve explained.
Nicki caught wind of Eve’s interview and took to X to respond with a heartfelt message. She showed a lot of appreciation for Eve’s vulnerability and shared her own experiences from their time on set.
“The level of grace; the level of emotional & spiritual maturity it takes to be this vulnerable & transparent is a sign of TRUE peace, happiness, fulfillment, & mastery of self,” she wrote.
Nicki admitted that she was nervous stepping onto the set every day, but she admired how Eve handled everything like a pro. She also revealed that she felt Eve went easy on her, showing support rather than competition. “Thank you for trying to not do to me what was done to you,” Nicki said, pointing out the pressure women in the industry often feel to compete.
Nicki’s response wasn’t just about Barbershop 3, though. She gave Eve her flowers for being a trailblazer in hip hop, from her iconic Ruff Ryderz days to becoming a trendsetter in music, TV, and film. Nicki also praised Eve’s famous short blonde hair and paw print tattoos, adding, “You soared & soared.”
It’s rare to see two legends in the game show this level of respect and reflection. Nicki ended her tweet by congratulating Eve on her new book and sending blessings to her family.
“Congratulations on your new book as well as all your many accomplishments in Hip Hop & Film & TV. P.S. you STILL looK sooooo pretty,” she wrote.
This moment between Nicki and Eve is a breath of fresh air, especially since all year it feels like female rappers have been shading each other instead of showing love.
Dear Eve,
The various things you’ve shared recently, are groundbreaking (in my opinion) for so many reasons.
First, thank you.
