Like last year, Nicki Minaj is set to emcee and perform at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
The VMAs will go live from Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center, on Tuesday, September 12th, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Minaj co-hosted with LL Cool J and Jack Harlow last year, performing a nine-song medley when she received the Video Vanguard Award.
This year, she’ll be the only emcee, in addition to performing her new single, “Last Time I Saw You.”
Although MTV’s announcement doesn’t explicitly name Minaj as the host, they repeatedly call her the “emcee.”
However, it’s clear “Minaj will announce the show’s star-studded lineup of performers, presenters and winners.”
This is the first time someone has hosted the show in back-to-back years since Russell Brand did so in 2008 and 2009.
Over the years, Minaj has achieved six VMAs out of 25 nominations. This year, she has earned six nominations in categories such as Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, Best Visual Effects (all for “Super Freaky Girl“), Best R&B (“Love in the Way“), and Song of Summer (“Barbie World,” a collaboration with Ice Spice featuring Aqua).
