Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, has struck a plea deal with the feds after failing to register as a sex offender in California.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Petty has agreed to plead guilty to one count of failing to register. In exchange, federal prosecutors will seek a lesser sentence.
Kenneth Petty was facing up to ten years in prison with a lifetime of supervised release if he did not take the plea. The mandatory minimum is five years of supervised release, but the judge will have the final say. Unfortunately, he still might end up getting some time behind bars, depending on how the judge accounts for his criminal history.
Petty was convicted in 1995 for first-degree attempted rape and served almost four years in New York state prison for the crime.
Last year, Petty had to get the court’s permission to be present when Nicki gave birth to their first child.
