Nicki Minaj’s attorney, Judd Burstein, is firing back at allegations made by her former day-to-day manager, Brandon Garrett, who has filed a lawsuit accusing the rapper of assault, battery, and emotional abuse.
Burstein issued a statement on behalf of Nicki, saying, “At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty, and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations. However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex-assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”
Brandon Garrett alleges that Nicki Minaj assaulted him during a backstage altercation following her April 2024 concert in Detroit. According to the lawsuit, Garrett claims Nicki became enraged upon learning he had delegated the task of picking up a prescription for her to someone else.
Garrett’s lawsuit, filed by high-profile attorney Thomas Feher, details a heated exchange where Nicki allegedly yelled at him, saying, “You’re a dead man walking” and threatening to ruin his career. He further claims Nicki slapped him with enough force to knock his hat off and struck his wrist, causing him to drop documents he was holding.
Garrett says he fled the confrontation, locking himself in a restroom at Little Caesars Arena out of fear for his safety. He also claims he was stranded in Detroit after being barred from boarding the tour bus heading back to Chicago.
Garrett is suing Nicki Minaj for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, seeking monetary damages for the alleged harm caused.
Nicki’s legal team is adamant that the claims are baseless and expects the matter to be resolved in her favor.
As the lawsuit progresses, the case will be closely watched, given its high-profile nature and the serious accusations involved.
