Days ago, Nicki Minaj surprised fans with the announcement that she would be releasing a brand new album instead of doing a “Pink Friday 2” deluxe.
“Instead of doing a DELUXE to Pink Friday 2, I’ve decided to do a brand new album. I’ll still incorporate new songs like #Mamita & [The “anxiety” song] for the remainder of the tour tho…and I’ll announce the new date within the next couple weeks. The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album,” Minaj explained in a lengthy Twitter announcement.
Dear Barbz,

“Pink Friday 2” was unveiled on December 8th, 2023, and achieved platinum status just months later. The album sparked the viral hits “Everybody” featuring Lil Uzi Vert and “Super Freaky Girl.” Minaj has long praised her album, as it was her first since becoming a mother. However, the 41-year-old says that since the deluxe would have been adding five to seven new records, it only seemed fitting to create an entirely new project, which will be appropriately titled “Pink Friday 3.”
In the months since “Pink Friday 2” was released, Minaj has teased several tracks that offer a taste of what is to come in the series’ third installment. Just days after “PF2” was unveiled, Minaj alluded to Rihanna being part of the deluxe. The New York star wrote on Instagram, “The full gag city deluxe ain’t coming out until Queen Rih send her vocals. POW.” As the second leg of her tour moves through the U.S., Minaj also shared a new single titled “Mamita.” The record hasn’t been released on streaming yet, but she has confirmed that it will certainly make the “Pink Friday 3” cut. Another track, which was teased by Minaj in August, tentatively titled “Anxiety,” is also confirmed for her forthcoming album.
As far as features go, no one has yet to be confirmed. However, she did suggest during an Instagram Live session that “Mamita” could have another artist on it. Her last “Pink Friday” installment had an impressive lineup, including J. Cole, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Drake, and Future. While fans are hopeful for the Rihanna collab, there could also be appearances from Bia and Tyga, both of whom are on tour with Minaj. Some fans have speculated that the Queen Barb may have Sabrina Carpenter on the project, as the two have recently shown love to one another online.

It’s unclear when Minaj will unveil “Pink Friday 3,” though the album could be released in the upcoming months, possibly toward the end of her tour, which concludes in the U.S. on October 11th.
