Back in March, Nicolas Cage and his girlfriend, Erika Koike, jumped the broom in Las Vegas after 13 months of dating. However, just four days later, Cage filed for an annulment, claiming the entire ordeal had been based on fraud.
One month later, Koike fired back at Cage’s claim that he’d “reacted on impulse and without the ability to recognize or understand the full impact of his actions,” revealing the actor attempted to reconcile after he filed the docs. In addition, Koike demanded spousal support for loss of income and humiliation after her reputation had been “damaged by his allegations” of fraud.
But now, just weeks after Koike demanded Cage pay for her troubles, the actor’s estranged wife is speaking out for the first time to share her side of the story, regarding the short-lived marriage. In an interview with Daily Mail, Koike said Cage’s claims and actions left her “hurt and humiliated,” but in an effort to get over the humiliation, Koike has reportedly snuggled up under someone else.
“Erika was picked up at the restaurant by this guy in a fancy sports car after finishing work at 3 am, and it was plain to see that they’re very much into each other,” an eyewitnesses told Daily Mail after seeing Koike, who returned to work as a waitress, with a new mystery man. “Later they spent at least half an hour in the car outside Erika’s building. When Erika got out, she passionately kissed and hugged the guy before she went inside.”
Although the two seem to be more than friendly, Koike told Daily Mail that he’s just a friend, at least for now. “He’s just a customer who comes here. He’s not my boyfriend yet,” she said.
“I’m free to do whatever I want,” Koike continued. “Nic did what he did, we’re not going to reconcile or get back together. Nic could have come to me and talked to me, not publicly humiliate me. I’m hurt and mistreated, it’s unfair, but the case is sealed, and my lawyer won’t let me speak until we are all done.”
According to the publication, as part of Cage’s annulment docs, he reportedly accused Koike of omitting “the full nature and extent of her relationship with another person,” or “the full nature and extent of her criminal history, including “additional active criminal proceedings.”
Although in her response, Koike agreed that the marriage should be annulled, she felt Cage’s explanation is what ruined her reputation. So, as a result, she’s demanding damages and wants Cage to cover her legal fees.
