What started as a birthday celebration quickly turned into a situation Niecy Nash had to think her way out of.

Nash shared the experience during a recent appearance on “Baby, This is Keke Palmer,” explaining how cartel-related safety concerns disrupted the trip. She said she, her wife Jessica Betts, and their family were running low on food as violence escalated nearby. So they decided to go to a nearby hotel to secure supplies, hoping for a quick fix. However, according to Nash, they were not welcomed by the staff, which pushed them to find another way inside. Once they snuck in, the situation shifted after an unexpected interaction at the bar.

“We found a couple at the bar who wanted to swing,” she explained. Instead of walking away, Nash used the moment to her advantage and came up with a plan.

“We get the room number, we order everything that we need to take back to the house to their room because we’re not guests,” Nash said. “And then we say, ‘We wanna pay for it in cash,’ so it woudn’t be on they bill when they checked out. You gotta make it work.”

She said the plan worked without any issues and went unnoticed. Nash later joked with the swinging couple, “Maybe next time.”

The actress confirmed that she and her family made it back home safely after the trip.
