The late Nipsey Hussle will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on what would have been his 37th birthday.
The “Victory Lap” icon will be celebrated in a ceremony on Monday, August 15th, as part of the 2022 class of honorees. On Wednesday, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce revealed that they chose a memorable day to debut Nip’s star on the historic landmark.
A little over a year ago, it was revealed that Nipsey would be included in this year’s list of recipients, though a date for the ceremony was not announced at the time.
Though his career was marked with incredible strides within hip-hop and entrepreneurship, Nip’s life was tragically cut short on March 31st, 2019, at the hands of Eric Holder. Holder confronted Nip at his Marathon store and shot him multiple times. He has since been found guilty of first-degree murder.
Los Angeles will also pay tribute to the beloved Slauson Boy with a new station named after him on the city’s metro rail. The station, located at Nipsey Hussle Square, will serve the Hyde Park K-Line.
Joining Nip in the 2022 class are Ashanti, Michael B. Jordan, Tracee Ellis Ross, and more. The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. and will be streamed on Walkoffame.com.
