Nipsey Hussle’s 10-year-old daughter, Emani will remain in the custody of her aunt Samantha, despite her mother’s efforts.
According to TMZ, Tanisha Foster faced the late rapper’s family in court on Monday in an attempt to regain custody of her daughter, who has been living with Hussle’s sister since his passing in March.
Apparently, Foster left the courtroom crying and was “pissed off” at the judge’s decision.
Foster’s criminal record and current warrant for arrest could be the reason for the denial of her request for custody, and Hussle’s family agrees. The family believes that although Foster is Emani’s biological mother, she is unfit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hussle’s sister Samatha was one family member in particular who helped raise Emani when Hussle was still alive. In her petition for custody, Samantha wrote that she wants to “ensure the continued stability for Emani and ensure that she will be able to maintain her current and ongoing relationship” with her family.
The hearing on Monday was sealed, but Foster’s lawyer Larry Lewellyn told reporters that he is working with Hussle’s family on an amicable visitation schedule that will benefit Emani. Both parties are set to return to court in July.
