According to TMZ Sports, NFL prospects who will take part in the virtually live 2020 NFL draft scheduled to take place Thursday night, will not have a formal dress code.
A spokesperson for the NFL tells TMZ Sports, ”It’s up to the individual players. In previous years, players who did not attend the draft but appeared in interviews with NFL Network or ESPN generally wore suits.”
Multiple celebrity tailors confirmed to TMZ Sports they haven’t received the same amount of work they’ve received in years past leading up to the draft.
One tailor tells TMZ Sports, ”At this time, none of the draftees I would typically have dressed for the occasion have committed to wearing a custom piece this year due to circumstances.” Another tailor said, “Since it’s a virtual draft this year, there will sadly be no need for suits.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The NFL announced its decision to move the draft from Las Vegas in early April.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent A memo sent to teams calling the draft, “An environment, unlike anything we have experienced before.”
”Takin away, the in-person aspects of the draft don’t remove the pressure.” NFL Chief Information Officer, Michelle McKenna tells Sam Farmer and Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, ”We’re doing it live,” McKenna said. “It’s not like we get to record it, and edit it, and make sure the sound and lighting are perfect. We’re going straight to live. It’s exciting and very nerve-racking as well.”
An NFL prospect choice of fashion is an opportunity to stand out from the crowd with some luxury designs and wild color schemes.
The many prospects who will take part in the NFL draft from home may dress formally, keeping in the spirit of previous draft fashions even though they won’t get the chance to walk across the stage to shake hands with Goodell.
