North Carolina Mother Mauled To Death By The Pit Bulls She Was Dog-Sitting

A North Carolina woman died early Thursday morning after being attacked by the two pit bulls she was dog-sitting. 

Trena Peed, 46, let the dogs out into the backyard of her house around 2 a.m. Shortly after she let the dogs out, neighbors could hear her yelling for help. The neighbors called 911.

When police arrived, one of the dogs had to be shot so officers could help Peed. Guilford Couty Animal Services have the surviving pit bull in custody.

Peed’s son was asleep at the time of the attack and awoke to find out that his mother had been killed. 

“It’s terrible. She got mauled to death,” a neighbor and friend of Peed told WGHP. “That’s terrible.”

A GoFundMe was started by Peed’s daughter, Waynesha, to help with funeral expenses. 

This isn’t the first time the family has been struck by tragedy. Peed lost two of her sons, two years apart, in car accidents. Despite facing such adversity, her daughter wrote that “she always had a smile on her face that could light up any room.”
