The co-creators of the HBO Max adult animated series Harley Quinn stopped by Variety, where they opened up about an NSFW scene cut from an episode.
Co-creator Justin Halpern revealed that DC shot down a scene in the show’s upcoming third season that saw Batman going down on Catwoman.
“…in this third season of ‘Harley’ [when] we had a moment where Batman was going down on Catwoman. And DC was like, ‘You can’t do that. You absolutely cannot do that,’” Halpern told the outlet.
“They’re like, ‘Heroes don’t do that.’ So, we said, ‘Are you saying heroes are just selfish lovers?’” he continued. “They were like, ‘No, it’s that we sell consumer toys for heroes. It’s hard to sell a toy if Batman is also going down on someone.’”
Following the statement, Halpern expressed his gratitude for how supportive of their creative freedom DC has been.
The third season of Harley Quinn is set to stream later this year. Tune in to see if Batman can get other types of action in the bedroom throughout the upcoming season.
