A former nurse in Texas who was convicted of capital murder for injecting four patients with air has received the death penalty.
37-year-old William George Davis was sentenced to death for fatally injecting the male patients’ arteries with air following their open-heart surgeries.
Davis killed John Lafferty, Ronald Clark, Christopher Greenaway and Joseph Kalina, by injecting air into their arterial lines, resulting in brain damage.
The jury handed down their sentence for the former cardiac intensive care unit nurse after two hours of deliberation.
The jury decided he “has a probability of being a danger to society and found there are not sufficient mitigating factors that would hinder him from receiving the death penalty.”
Davis’ arrest affidavit, confirmed that the nurse was captured on hospital surveillance footage entering the rooms of patients who were recovering from heart operations. The condition of those patients would then deteriorate.
