Hospital Suspends Nurse For Joking About Mistreating Patients On TikTok

A hospital has suspended a nurse after her TikTok videos raised concerns over the way she treats her patients.

Kelly Morris, or “BubbleGumKelz,” as she calls herself on the social media app, has been posting content about her job as a nurse, according to Newsweek. However, several of her more than 30,000 followers began to speak out against Morris’ jokes about mistreating her patients.

Morris has since deleted the videos, but in the videos, Morris would reportedly joke about giving her patients too many pills and acted like she didn’t care if they died. In a statement, the Citadel Winston Salem nursing facility said they suspended Morris over the matter.

“The Citadel at Winston Salem was made aware of TikTok videos by an employee last week. Our team investigated [the] content and acted immediately,” Citadel’s parent company Accordius Health said in a statement.

It continued: “Misuse and unprofessional use of social media platforms by employees violates our core values and is not tolerated. Any form of resident abuse is never tolerated. Be assured we have handled the situation and reported her actions to all appropriate state and federal agencies. We love our residents; provide for and protect them every day. We are grateful for the global healthcare team that protects the elderly with pride in our profession.”

But, Morris says she did nothing wrong and claimed she’s a victim of “cancel culture.” “I can understand how someone can be upset but not to the degree they are taking it. No one was ever harmed, and I treat all my patients with great care and they all love me,’ said Morris. TikTok has banned Morris from the site, but she made a new page. “When trolls get you banned. Like I can’t make a second account,” she wrote on her new account, “BubbleGumKelzz.”

Morris has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for her and her family. “TikTok got me fired, so feed my kids,” the GoFundMe says while asking for $50,000. The GoFundMe has raised $55 so far.
