Last week, the FBI seized NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ electronic devices as it relates to a federal probe tied to his top fundraiser.
According to ABC News, Adams has denied any wrongdoing.
“As a former member of law enforcement, I expect all members of my staff to follow the law and fully cooperate with any sort of investigation—and I will continue to do exactly that. I have nothing to hide,” he said in a statement.
The FBI had earlier searched the home of Brianna Suggs, Mayor Adams’ main fundraiser, as part of an investigation into potential illegal foreign donations from Turkey to the mayor’s campaign through a Brooklyn construction company.
The campaign attorney, Boyd Johnson, mentioned that they took action based on the discovery of recent improper conduct by an individual.
“In the spirit of transparency and cooperation, this behavior was immediately and proactively reported to investigators. The mayor has been and remains committed to cooperating in this matter. On Monday night, the FBI approached the mayor after an event. The mayor immediately complied with the FBI’s request and provided them with electronic devices. The mayor has not been accused of any wrongdoing and continues to cooperate with the investigation,” Johnson said in a statement.
By Monday evening, investigators had approached Mayor Adams after an event, requesting all his devices, including an iPad and a phone. Subsequently, the mayor’s office provided additional devices.
According to sources, most of the mayor’s office’s devices have been returned.
