NYPD Investigating Woman Who Threw Coffee At Father, Toddler And Called Them Terrorists As A Hate Crime

The New York police department needs help locating and identifying a woman they say accosted a Brooklyn dad and his 18-month-old son at a playground on Nov. 7.

Ashish Prashar, 40, told authorities while he was at the Edmonds playground in Fort Greene Brooklyn, the woman threw her cell phone and a hot cup of coffee at him and his son and then asked if they were “terrorists.”

The father was wearing a black and white Palestinian scarf known as a keffiyeh at the time of the incident, which he filmed and later posted to social media.

Prashar can be heard saying “I’m wearing a scarf and apparently I’m getting attacked because I’m a terrorist.”

Details on what May have sparked the incident are unknown.

A witness who wasn’t physically seen on camera can be heard saying, “I’m sorry that happened to you.”

Luckily the father and son were not hurt.

The unknown woman is described as a female, with a light complexion and a small build. She was last seen wearing a black and white baseball hat, black sunglasses, gray scarf, black zip-up jacket, black fanny pack, black sweatpants, and white sneakers, PEOPLE reported.

“Don’t take this in your own hands,” Prashar wrote on Instagram. “We have never asked for that and we do not want that. This is not vigilante justice. The only way forward is to have the detectives do their job.”
