The New York Police Department says reports of Diddy being under investigation for sexual assault are absolutely false.
By now, we’ve all been made aware that Diddy is being sued by his ex, Cassie. The singer is alleging that Diddy sexually and physically abused her throughout their relationship. Shortly after news of her lawsuit hit the internet, multiple outlets reported that Diddy was the subject of a “secret” sexual assault investigation. However, the NYPD says this is untrue and was a lie spread by one of its staff members.
“Yesterday, a member of the NYPD’s public information office erroneously told a reporter about the apparent existence of an active case file containing the name ‘Sean Combs.’ There is no such investigation at present,” the NYPD shared in a statement, adding, “Further, the release of such information is not consistent with the internal policies of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information.”
As we know, Diddy has enough legal troubles at the moment. It has not helped that multiple clips and interviews have begun to surface, documenting Diddy and Cassie’s relationship. This includes the now-viral VLAD TV interview with Yung Joc, where he recounts Diddy telling Cassie to shave her head. Business ventures may also begin to fall through for Puff. Agenda Studios in Atlanta has canceled a Deleon Day Party “due to recent allegations.”
The NYPD’s statement is a slight vindication for Diddy, though he still has quite a fight ahead of him. Via his attorney, he has maintained his innocence, calling Cassie’s accusations a blackmail attempt.
