The New York Police Department has suspended a cop after she was photographed riding on the back of a dirt bike.
On Sunday night, Donna Scott was suspended from patrol after a video showing her riding on the back of a dirt bike emerged online. Scott has been with the force since 2019, and she’s assigned to the 83rd Precinct.
This all comes after the NYPD says it has been trying to crack down on illegal street vehicles. Scott was seen riding the bike Banker St. in Greenpoint in Brooklyn. However, the social media post mentions that the roads were blocked off. “All roads were blocked off and we had the proper permits to ride,” said the user of the Instagram the photo and video were posted to.
While the city is trying to remove illegal vehicles, the photo of Scott and the dirt bike driver was captioned with, “This was a huge first step to bridging the gap between us.” The user went on to say: “Usually cops and bikers don’t mix, but she actually took the time to get to know us and get a better understanding of the culture,” the user chad_5 wrote. “The smile on her face says it all.”
A spokesperson says the NYPD did not issue any permits for the event.
