O.J. Simpson is a tad bitter that Henry Ruggs III supposedly got a sweeter prison deal than he did.
The former NFL star had a chat with his Twitter followers, declaring that the “math just does not add up” with Ruggs’ sentence in Las Vegas for killing a woman while driving drunk. While Simpson never spent time in jail for the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman, he was convicted of kidnapping, robbery, and other charges after attacking two men in a Las Vegas hotel room for supposedly stealing sports memorabilia from him. In that case, he received a 9 to 33-year sentence. Simpson was released in 2017 after serving nine years. Per Simpson’s logic, the 24-year-old’s time should have received a longer punishment than he did, considering that someone died due to his drunk driving.
“You’re driving a car at roughly 160 miles per hour on a public street and end up killing a girl and her dog, and you get three to ten years?” O.J. probed before pointing out that he was invited to the hotel room in September 2007 to retrieve his stolen property.
This week, Ruggs’ was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison. He showed remorse at the hearing, apologizing to the family of the victim, Tina Tintor, his family, and the entire Raiders team. He promised to work as an advocate for victims of drunk driving, but Simpson is not buying it.
“Same courthouse, same city, same state. I don’t know. Somehow just does not add up to me. I’m just saying,” the 76-year-old shared.
Ruggs’ legal team has not publicly responded to Simpson’s comments but did express in court that he was ready to serve his rightful time.
